Event Description
Winter energy costs in New England are among the highest in the nation. Every winter, the region's heavy reliance on natural gas for power generation competes with heating to drive electricity prices sharply higher, hitting ratepayers, businesses, and state budgets alike. Analysis from Daymark Energy Advisors finds that having 3,500 MW of offshore wind online last winter alone would have cut regional wholesale electricity costs by $528 million and saved Massachusetts ratepayers as much as $212 million during a three-month period.
The path forward runs through transmission and renewables, but making that case to legislators and local communities requires more than data. It requires a shared language around affordability.
Join ACORE's Macro Grid Initiative and RENEW Northeast for a presentation of new communications tools for advancing transmission and clean energy investment in New England, followed by a panel discussion featuring regulators, researchers, and regional advocates about how affordability messaging is landing on the ground.
